Ice Skating Rinks in Tucson

January 7, 2023

Put on your skates and tie the laces!

The pop-up ice skating rink in Tucson is now open for the holiday season. Visitors can enjoy festive lights and decorations while skating around the rink.  Come and enjoy the festive atmosphere as you glide around the rink with friends and family. Whether you’re a seasoned skater or a complete beginner, everyone is always welcome at this skating rink. There’s nothing quite like getting into the spirit of winter than spending an afternoon on the ice. The friendly staff is always happy to help out anyone who may need it, so come on down and enjoy the skating!

The City of Tucson, Rio Nuevo, and Pima Pain Center came together to make the return of Tucson Holiday Ice possible. The rink debuted last November 20th and was met with excitement from the community. This year, the rink will be temporary, but it will still provide residents and visitors alike a chance to enjoy some winter fun in downtown Tucson. The Tucson Convention Center will be hosting an ice rink until Sunday, Jan. 8, 2023. The rink will be open to the public and will be a great opportunity for people to enjoy some winter fun.

Skate sessions at the rink are typically 90 minutes long and are priced at $20 for adults and $14 for kids under 12 years old. However, if you visit for the first session of the day, you’ll be able to pay a discounted price of $12 for adults and $8 for kids. Tickets can be purchased online in advance or at the rink.

Admission to the skating rink includes skate rentals in sizes for kids (size 8) and adults (up to size 15 for men). For an additional $5, you can rent a skate assist device. Socks are required, and gloves are recommended, for your comfort while skating.

Tucson Holiday Ice made its debut in 2019, then near Hotel Congress. The event was a huge success, with people of all ages flocking to the ice rink to enjoy some festive fun. The event is now an annual tradition and is sure to bring smiles and laughter to everyone who attends.

Other cities that are not typically known for cold winters have public ice skating rinks, so it’s not unrealistic to have one in a desert winter. The rink will be built with a cooling system that can keep the ice frozen even if it’s December and warm outside. They’ll still be able to operate even if it’s a warm December. This would give people in the city a chance to enjoy a winter activity even though it doesn’t snow where they live.

Tucsonans would find this a delightful activity since they don’t have public ice rinks or anywhere to skate. Establishing this as a holiday tradition would be a great way to enjoy the season. It would also be great for families to come out and enjoy some time together skating on the ice and maybe even drink some hot cocoa afterward. People come from all over the world to experience outdoor skating in the winter. It’s something that Tucson residents can enjoy without having to travel very far. Outdoor skating is a great way to spend time with family and friends, and it’s a great way to get exercise.
