1. Seven Falls via Bear Canyon Road
Travel east on W Grant Road for 4.3 miles starting in North Tucson, then turn left onto N Swan Road. Take in the views of the cityscape while driving for four miles, then make a right onto E Sunrise Drive. You’ll be on your way to your destination in no time! N Sabino Canyon Road winds down for 4.1 miles until you reach N Pantano Road. At this point, make an immediate right to continue on your journey. Park at the Sabino Canyon Visitor Center and Bookstore parking lot, which is the trailhead for this hike.
The ultimate Tucson hike leads to a breathtaking multi-tier waterfall. The waterfall cascades down from steep mountain cliffs and lands in a refreshing desert lake, creating a true oasis. 2. Romero Pools Trail
From Oro Valley, drive northeast on N Oracle Road for about 2.9 miles until you reach Catalina State Park. Follow the signs and continue driving for another 0.7 miles before taking a right turn. Continue driving for 1.1 miles and you will find the parking lot for Romero Canyon on your right side.
Romero Pools is a gorgeous pond that is situated in the stunning Catalina State Park. The picturesque pond is fed by a high and mighty seasonal waterfall, which makes it an ideal spot for swimming, relaxing, and taking in all of the natural beauty that surrounds it. The pool is open to swimmers of all ages and abilities and provides stunning views of the canyons and surrounding desert landscape. The best time to visit is early in the morning or evening when the sun isn’t too hot. For the first mile, the hike to Romero Pools is a moderate climb which then transforms into an extensive trudge of switchbacks. Navigating the trail is challenging due to the rocky terrain before you reach a large body of water that needs to be crossed. This makes it hard for people to get through, especially if they don’t have the proper equipment.
This is not the end of your journey. As you keep going on the pathway, eventually you will come upon a canyon and the arid landscape of this paradise. 3. Tanque Verde Falls Trail
Head east from Tucson on AZ-210 E for 3.6 miles, then use the two left lanes to turn left onto Golf Links Road. Continue for 8.4 miles, then make a left turn onto S Houghton Road. Proceed 4.1 miles and make a right turn onto E Tanque Verde Road. You will need to keep driving for an additional 6.7 miles until you reach the parking area for the Tanque Verde Falls Trailhead. This is the only way that you are going to be able to reach the falls and enjoy all that they have to offer.
Tanque Verde Falls is an incredible hiking trail just outside Tucson, Arizona. Climb a short distance through a stunning canyon and witness the grandeur of an 80-foot waterfall with this out-and-back hike; its force surges down with full power! The waterfall is fed by a small stream that flows down from the nearby Santa Catalina Mountains. The trail is well-marked and easy to follow, making it a great option for hikers of all levels of experience.
The hike up the narrow canyon to the small pond is a steep, steady, and sometimes slippery trek. Reaching the end of the hike brings a reward in the form of a tranquil little pond that is nourished by Tanque Verde Waterfall, known as the “Green Tank”. Be sure to monitor the weather conditions before visiting. The rocks can become dangerously slippery after rainfall, and the potential for flash flooding is a common danger. Therefore, it is important to be smart and take precautions when necessary in order to enjoy your visit safely.

4. Bridal Wreath Falls Trail
Drive east on AZ-210 E from Tucson for 3.6 miles and use the two left lanes to turn left onto Golf Links Road. Go 8.4 miles further and take a left onto S Houghton Road. After hiking for 3.0 miles, you will need to turn right onto E Speedway Boulevard. Continue driving for another 5.0 miles until you reach the parking area for the Douglas Spring Trail. This is the trailhead for this hike.
Bridal Wreath Falls is a charming waterfall located in the eastern portion of Saguaro National Park. Although the waterfall may be small in comparison to others, it is still beautiful in its own way. The river rushes down into a breathtaking canyon, passing through layers of rock in a formation resembling rapids. The contrast between the forceful water and the rocks creates a breathtaking sight that is worth seeing.
The hike calmly and moderately ascends through sand and loose rock through a vast, wide desert canyon. The trail ceases as you come close to the waterfall and is an excellent place to take your shoes off and enjoy the peaceful and tranquil waters before your return trip.
T&T Tip: A good amount of rain is ideal for a visit to this trail, because of its shallow waters.
